Im just askin, because the caps im getting(m20) are from the time that the Berlin Wall came down.
Itd be interesting to me. What are the oldest mics that someone in here uses I wander......

I got my Schoeps in Jan 2001 - so that is about 4.5 yrs old

My Sennheiser ME-80s were purchased March 1993 - I don't really use them anymore tho
one of these days I will get around to running the ME-80s through the V2/AD2k combo - just curious how the shotguns would sound with a decent micpre behind them - once I got my Neumann's (and then on to the Schoeps) I just never ran the guns again...

its just the m20 caps that are that old, the 210s and bodies i just got arent that old i dont believe.

if they were kept in smoke-free environments or a pelican case, i wouldnt worry about ti too much, but since your so close to MG, id have them look them over, why not ya know

what i was wanderin is if the factory could tell me the age b the serial number

or if there is a database to look up such things

call MG, theyre right by you and could prolly help you out, they ARE the manufacturer

my mics are definitely not the oldest ones here. in fact, they are probably in the running for the newest mics. I got them new in mid-May (as soon as they arrived in the US). The frequency test plots were done in Germany on April 29, 2005

If you want to here some old fantastic sounding mics try this 2002 Kimock show:

Vintage Neumann's onstage. Apparently they're from about 1959/1960. This is the way that Neumann's and IMHO all audience recordings should sound.

Yeah I think I was in first grade. I still remember a rumor about one of the 2nd grade teachers being in the astronaut program and almost being on the challenger, but failing some test at the last minute. Damn, first and second graders are so stupid

I believe that was Christa McAuliffe and she was on the Challenger when it blew up. She was supposed to teach from space.
