Hi,
I am thinking about buying a telefoto lens for my video camera.
My camera has a 40-times zoom function, which is impossible to hold still, when I use my mono-pod.
Will the lens make it easier to hold still, when only having to zoom like 20-times on the camera to get the same as when I makes the camera zoom to its limit?

No it won't.
If you're hand holding a camera and you need to use a 40x zoom to get a good picture then you definitely need a tripod.

No, since 20x*2 is the same like 40x when it comes to motion.
I once red that there are a few cams out there whose OIS works a little better when zooming in, but I don't remember which models those where.

I have a clamp style rig that I got at this website:

It works out really well when you want to just clamp the cam to the front of your seat or to the seat's armrest. If you loosen the locking nut just enough to where you can move the cam around, but where it will still stay steady by itself when you're not touching it ~ you can get a really steady shot, even while using a lot of zoom.
