Mixing a Left and right file into one file

Hi, I have a show recorded as two seperate files Left and Right.
my thought is to put thme into Sony Vegas and save them into one file.
Do i pan the left file al the wat to the left side and the right file all to the right?

Listen and decide how far you want to pan to produce a nice stereo image.  When I mix a left, right and center mono sources I always pan hard left and right becuase the center fills it in quite nicely.

oh, I use sony vegas and yes you save it as one stereo file.

so if i only have left and right, i should not pan all the way?
i don't have a center source.
it's actually a sbd with the two channels split into two files

Play around with it and see what sounds got to your ears.  Just don't leave a big hole in the middle.  One thing to keep in mind is that alot of the time a sound board feed is mono.  Meaning that there is no difference between the left and right.  Throw it up on Vegas, take a look at the wave forms and play around with the pan bar.
