have the card setting at 48 and soudforge at 48. before I resample I listen to a little bit of it. the recording is slow. so for the hell of it I set everything to 44.1 and record a few mins that way. It sounds like it is supposed to (not slow). So why if the dat is at 48 (it is) would this happen? I know there is a cass gen in the dat would that make a difference.

what card are you using?
is the spdif input sync set to internal or spdif in?
should be set to spdif in

audiophile 2496 and yes it is set to spdif in. also I resampled it and it was still slow. sounds fine when recording at 44.1

Did you actually downsample it or just change the sample rate? I ran into a problem a while back my deck said a DAT was 48 when it was actually 44.1. A lead-in had been recorded at 48 but the show had been switch to 44.1. Deck still showed 48. Might be the same problem you're having.

you shouldn't be able to set the sample number on the card, if it's locked onto the digital signal, it should just pick it up, atleast in my limited experience with the m-audio software.
