VMS02IB Battery Fuse?
« on: May 06, 2015, 07:23:03 PM »
Something odd happened last night.  Went to turn on the VMS and it was dead.  Battery tray was filled with new batteries.  But the problem is, I have two trays, with one the positive and negative reversed from the other.  Is it possible to trip a fuse if the tray with the wrong polarity is inserted and the unit is turned on?

The VMS will power up with an external battery.

I suggest that you ask mailbox@schoeps.de this question.

Go the PM from Steve!  I don't solder, so this will have to go to Vark or someone who can diagnose this.

In the mean time, can someone remind me which side is positive and which is negative for the future?  haha.  The other battery tray needs to be put away  >:(

Get a multimeter.

Got one in my shop.  Guide me.  Seriously.  I don't want this to happen again and will label the inside of the box and the offending battery tray ( which are a rare item these days ).

Send it to me..i'd be glad to fix it for you.  The fuse is right by the battery terminals..check it on ohms scale and see if it's open.

One side of the fuse is connected to the positive battery terminal when the sled is in place.  The other side of the fuse goes to a seven pin strip connector.  Use a meter to figure out which one of your two sleds puts positive on the mating terminal on the vms that is connected directly to the fuse.  Alternatively send both of your sleds to nick or vark and have him do this.  Obviously make sure and label the sleds.

Give me tonight.  I'll let you know via PM which of those terminal strips is the positive terminal.  I'd post it here but I'm sick of getting insulted on ts.com for giving people help.

Steve...I wasn;t trying to insult you with my comment above. You and I have both had similar issues with these boxes. I apologize if you took offense.
