So in my town there are 2 or 3 bars that make up the live music scene. One thing they all have in common is this corrugated steel that lines the walls around the stage. Everybody (musicians, audience, bar owners) agrees that the sound is terrible and that a change should be made. After talking with the owners they are open to ideas.
Has anybody done any room treatment of this sort? All I'm thinking is a cost-effective way to line the steel with sound absorbing materials.
My first guess is maybe a base layer of old carpet. Then a layer of cheap egg-carton foam mattress pads you can get at Walmart. Finally a ceiling-to-floor ruffled curtain for some aesthetic appeal.
