ECM-719 > Church ST20-A Preamp
« on: December 20, 2008, 08:11:51 AM »
Just wondered if the following would work, i have other mics but want to run this as a backup, i have an early Church pre (ST20A) and just wondered if the power needs would be met o.k, i.e the available 9v won't blow the mic, or is it a case of that upto 9v is available but the mic will only feed what it requires from this pre? both items are in a drawer at the moment and wondered if this would be a clean way of getting the +30db gain this rather crappy mic usually requires when running line in.

I think the power requirements for the 917 are the same as the 907/908 right?  I've run a 9V pre in front of the 908 and had no problems.  I have heard you probably shouldn't but my 908 still works fine after running that setup many times.
