Title: just an odd power related item concerning old battery powered sony mics
Post by: heyitsmejess on April 03, 2009, 05:18:49 AM
i recently bought a pair of sony ecm-19b mics.  i decided to try and power them a different way than with the aa battery.

i bought some cheap rechargables and put those in.  then i ran them into a CA9100.  the mics sound great, and there appears to be no problem with the 9100 powering them.

i also checked the batteries, and they still have zero charge on them.

Cool!

Did you try this out under high SPL conditions?
Sometimes, a mic seems to function on low voltage, but you have to put it under "stress" to see if it performs to specs...

An A/B listening test with flat/full internal batteries would be neat...

I think I asked Chris about this once, but I can't remember what his verdict was.

ive tried it on several "test" recordings around the house here, but have only tried it at a show once, about 5' from the stage (lost the recording due to my ignorance)

i wont have another opportunity to test it again till next saturday....i will report back then with samples
