That's it!! When they play my local bar/rest they set up w/ a left, right stack, and center speaker for vocals and yes they use in ear moniters for the vocals. I have tried in the past to be in the sweet spot (magical triangle) and all but the sound bounces around the room a lot and their is a lot of chatting always. I could ask the sound guy for a sound board feed but I prefer audience and would like to pull a good audience tape. Also the stage is only a half a foot of the ground and the right and left stacks are about the same in height. I usually run cards in DIN but probally am thinking of goin' XY if I try the sweet spot in the audince again and I usually run my rig at about 7' ( remember a very chatty crowd after all) even though I would probally get better results at 6-6.5'. I was thinkin' about stage front at 4.5'(h) or so using cards XY @120 degrees or more if the band gives me the okay. Whut do ya think?
