Yeah I figured Ed. Not sure I care, boosting in post is not a big deal. But it would be worth it if it doesn’t attract wands like my 620s do. And ffs, it’s $200.

I walked in the other night with an A10, my SP tiny BB (see sig) and CA-14's and didn't set off the walk through. YMMV but I was impressed.

It’s great. I get significantly better range (in terms of distance from the deck) with the sony app vs. SD’s wingman. And as others have mentioned, the sony has more features.

The app works fine for me but you cannot monitor remotely via Bluetooth or wired ear/headphones connected to the device running the app.

The functionality of the app is wonderful, have used it a dozen times or more so far. Only thing I noticed on my android is occasionally the bluetooth will skip a second of monitoring leaving a blank spot that really worried me at first, but the recordings are always continuous even if you lose connection to the device. I had my phone in my pocket and walked away for a min while my rig was clamped on a high up rail, connected back just fine when I returned.

So I set up my A10 and downloaded the Rex remote app. It is cool. But is it accurate that even if you engage the hold button, you can stop the recording? Is there a hold function in the app I’m not seeing?

Thanks!

I’m assuming that you are talking about the REC remote app!
If you have the hold switch engaged on the unit, you CAN still still STOP
the recording by pressing the stop button! It’s happened to me once in a whole
lot of recordings, but I was able to hit record right away and I didn’t lose much.
I make sure I close screen on phone while it’s recording. This is not an issue at all.

So I like the A10, it is tiny and the mic pre kills the m10 stock pre.

But the app kept not letting me adjust levels, and it did not show time. So eh.

That's interesting. What device/OS? My Android setup has been rock solid. The only bad thing I can say is that my battery consumption goes way up while running the app. I just make sure to charge my phone fully before a gig.

It also seems like having bluetooth connected drains the A10 battery way faster than I'm used to with the M10, which can sit turned on but idle in a drawer for weeks with no noticeable loss of charge.

And I've had no trouble setting levels with the iPhone app, either. MakersMarc, are you not getting the controls to change gain, or is nothing happening when you click on them?

So it was odd, the first track was fine. I went to the can and when I came back it was showing zeroes and not letting me adjust. It did display that it was recording, but that’s it.

No kidding, I went from 90 to 35 without using the phone for anything else. That’s in low battery mode. I wonder if using that setting impairs the BLuetooth so the app isn’t working right?

I meant that bluetooth drained the A10 battery, not just the phone battery. But bluetooth in general is a massive power suck — I shut it whenever possible.

Gotcha. Didn’t look at meters so not a clue. That does suck a bit but after running it, the deck alone is a marvel. To my ears the A10 pre sounds solid, where the m10 is a bit thin an two dimensional to me.
