Topic: V3 Digital & Analog ouput at same time?

Can I run both digital and analog output from my V3 at the same time? Currently I run my V3 digital AES output into my 722. I would also like to run an analog output into a buddy's Edirol R4 for a 4-channel matrix.

Any help would be appreciated.

absolutely!  take advantadge of the v3's xlr pass-through outputs.

Two notes:

• All V3's with a serial # lower than V3497 have digital outputs out-of-phase with the analog outputs.
  
  
• A range of R-4s (serial # ZT10100 - ZT61369) also had the polarity inverted on channel 4, making it out of phase with channel 3.
  
  

No biggie in either case if the units in question fall within range of impacted units and they're not yet fixed.  One may address both issues in post production by inverting the polarity of the affected channels appropriately.

if you use an out of phase V3 and an out of phase R4, wouldn't it be in phase?

if you use an out of phase V3 and an out of phase R4, wouldn't it be in phase?

not really.  the digital output of the V3 had both channels reversed polarity when compared to the original signal (and compared to the analog output), but the two channels were in phase with each other.  Because of this, it sounded pretty much normal and was much harder to catch.  with the R4, only channel 4 had an inverted polarity.  this made it 180 degrees out of phase with channel 3.  so when using channel 3 and channel 4 as a pair (or when mixing), it was much more obvious when just listening to it.
