Additional Battery Power for laptops
« on: January 24, 2006, 11:25:39 PM »
I searched for this and found nothing. Apologies if I'm search-challenged ...

I ran across a back up battery solution that's cross-platform for many laptops.

I'm running a Dell Latitude D800 and even with two internal batteries I'm limited to 6+ hours (okay for a one-off club act but sketchy for two days at Langerado camping). The N Charge powers the laptop and/or recharges its batteries depending on how its connected. Pretty nice. It's also very slim (about half an inch) and has a smaller footprint than the laptop itself so it fits right in the same carrying bag.

Back in the day when I used a laptop I had one of these.  ;D

http://batterygeek.net/

I ran a VERY powerhungry laptop...Sager 5690....and it gave me almost 3-4 hours on top of the dual battery laptop setup I ran (about 2 hours). I would bet a D800 could run close to 9-10 hours with full charge on both batteries.
I don't know just where I'm going
But I'm gonna try for the kingdom, if I can

Here is a cheaper alternative.  I have one of these but have yet to actually test the run time.  But for the price, you could stock up on several.
