VU-meter
« on: March 05, 2011, 06:55:30 AM »
I came across this unit http://www.signvideo.com/vu150_audio-meter.htm and i was wondering if this could work in stealthsituations. Recorder/preamp in the bag. Mics on a nice place. VU-meter in the hand or pocket and your other hand near the recorder's levelbutton... picture this?

You can connect it through the headphone-out.

Any opinions?

I have a BeachTek SVU-1 that I'll sell you if you want it. Not the same one as you posted the link to, but a common one seen in the field a little while back. Very reliable, you just need to calibrate it to your deck like the previous poster mentioned. There is a thread on the board here telling you how to do it. If you're interested just pm me.

found the link to the VU team...

looks a bit big, and i was hoping for something small.

Judging by the shoe mounting shown on your link, I'd guess both meters are about the same size.

Another thing is that the one you posted the link to is set up to read in a horizontal display, while the BeachTek is set up vertically.
