You moving to MG for good Rob?
I was really happy with AK50 recordings I was getting, and I wanted to dabble with some different mics, ...so on and so forth - so I landed on an MG Hyper.

Just my opinion but the Gefel 210 will smoke the Neuman AK50.  I am very familar with the 210's and ak50 and to me there is no comparison.  AK50 is the only neumann cap I don't like.  I find it just sounding flat, where the 210's sound much fuller and well balanced and one of the best if not the best hyper on the market.

The Gefell hypers always amaze me. I've never pulled a bad tape with them.

Back to wind screens for a moment, we had a 1 day festival Saturday, really windy, like merch tables blowing away, etc. I sas running Gefell cards and big ass Shures, and that was the first time I've had rumble with the Shures. I switched on the 50hz HPF on the V3 and that was enough. Interestingly my daughter had the AT4050ST (mis/side LD) with a U89 windscreen which wasn't bothered as much. I wonder if it had to do with direction, wind was coming from behind the mics, right into the musicians faces.

I use those Large DPA screens w/ dead rats/Rode Dead Kittens indoors, and the same screens plus a pair of "big ass shures" for outdoors :) Just so Im covered in ALL my situations. I just put my big ass shures away for the fall/winter/spring. I will soak them in oxyclean and let them dry very good, and then put them away til next summer :) Dont forget to wash/dry them at the beginning of festie season next year too ;)

Ran the M210s for the first time a couple weeks ago outdoors at Suwannee Springfest and cobbled together two pair of foam windscreens- a very small screen which simply filled the loose space inside a generic SM58 ball-mic style foam, with a piece of rip-tie velcro holding the large opening of the ball-foam snug around the mic body behind the cap.  Not ideal but functional and got me through without wind noise.  I'll probably pick up some DPA UA0896 for them.

The pair of big ass shures I use on the larger diameter MG M94/MV692 were way too loose on the smaller diameter M210s when I test-fitted them.  Sounds like they fit for others here, think mine are just stretched out or am I missing something?

I'm geusing yours are streched a bit, I use the big-ass shures on my sms gefells all the time without issues.
