What config do most of you all run outside with these?  Think I may use these mainly outside rather than at clubs.  Keep my ATs that I'm happy with for indoors.

outside i have run the following:

ortf cards
ortf hypers
din card
din hypers

vert xy card
vert xy hypers

inside:
all of the above +

haven't run the omni's outside yet jbk? c'mon now!

Kevin,  if yo can swing it, go for the omnis but be prepared for some FAT bass! but in a good way :)   i ran the the TL's for a little bit with the w-mod ua5 before i went V2>modsbm1.  i liked it very much but by the time i had the TL's i was ready for the grace sound ;D  the bass was a lot moer detailed and smooth than the oktavas i had prior. as others said this is a sweet setup and unbeatable for the price IMO.

you got to try the omni's...the tapes I did with them sound soooo sweet.

and for the record, I have run the TL's

ORTF Cards
DIN Cards
Blumien Fig 8
Omni's split about 3'
Omni's split about 8 inches.

All the tapes sound killer, but l like the Omni's a ton, but no matter how you run them, they sound good

heck you can run the tl -> wmod combo up against a u89 -> v3 and i bet 80% of the tapers out there could not tell the difference.

::)

you shouldn't type on here when you're high...

we'll do a back to back a/b sometime

Chris--run those omnis outdoors sometime.  I'm loving the 6/18 Dead omni tape I made.

Also, I'd do the duel out for something other than NEM at the rocks.  I doubt that they'll have the sound dialed in at all for the opening band out of 3.  They'll probably get it set right for one/both of the main acts during soundcheck and will just hope for the best with NEM.

I personally wouldn't like that combo!
Lemme explain-TL's have VERY little top end SIZZLE. Solid mid and bass though. Why accentuate it?!?
For the same money, you can get a pair of Studio Project C1 LD's...

little top end sizzle? c'mon now ..... these mics are on the bright side but with a fat and smooth low end to my ears. call me crazy but my frequency respnse chart that have here pretty much backs that up.  TLs>w-mod is a perfect combo IMHO.

they sound a lot like the 480s only better ;D

as for u89is vs. TL's  jbk might be high, but i think it would be a nice comparison, worth setting up :)

what? the TLs have a very pronounced high-end sizzle.
there's a good 6-10db boost from about 3.5K->18k

if anything, I would look for a preamp that has a 3-5db boost at about 150h-300h to compensate for the natural dip in the mics

Finaly got to run these yesterday for a 4th of July festival.  Got a couple nice jazz bands.  Run at the SBD, cards first set and hypers second.  Can't find much to criticise.  Nice low end but not muddy and fairly well detailed high end.  Nice all around mic.  I do have a constant buzz throughout the first set though.  Gonna do some troubleshooting today but I don't think it is a problem with my mics, but rather caused by how close I was set up to a huge bank of power supplies.
