If I was at that one and had a 744 to borrow I'd probably do double Blumlin (4 crossed figure 8s) ...but that's just cause I'm a wise ass  >:D

Seriously, I'm not even a DB fan but I can't wait to hear your pull of this show. I think Bisco will probably make better use of quadraphonic sound than the Dead would have (post 74 anyway). Should be interesting!

My friend has pulled a few of these (no quad pa system involved) - one pair of Neumann TLM103s (x/y for mono-compatibility for the l,r,c - facing forward) and KM184s (ortf) facing backward. He used Vegas to create a 5.1 mix and even though the mics were not consistent the results were good enough to warrant future experimentation....

Ok, here is your solution!

why stop there... this would do the trick :)

And anybody who has ever used one of those will tell you, while they are awesome mics, placement is super critical with the Soundfield. You don't get them in just the right place and you're recording won't be what you were hoping for. I considered one, since Zaxcom has the decoding option for it in the Deva, but ultimately decided that it wasn't worth the hassle (or the price).

FYI, the 16/44 source has been released (http://www.archive.org/details/db2006-12-31.51surround.flac16) but it was suggested that I release the 24/48 as well so that people can burn a DVD-A from it.

That's in the works.
