They work ok.  You can replace the springs with rubber bands.  I also added some foam on the inside to make it more sturdy and to keep the rubber bands from falling off.  With the thing modded, it works great.  The bottom pulls off of the thing so you can get a good look inside.  Someone posted that if a sprig comes off you are screwed.  That aint true, the bottom pulls off and you can see the insides just fine.
