Stupid question: JB3 and 48khz signal
« on: June 04, 2004, 09:48:19 AM »
Alright, so this may be a dumb question, but after searching the FAQ i didnt see my answer, so here goes.  Last weeked was trying to pull the signal from my buddy's V3 since mine is worthless right now, he was in 48khz output, but I could not get a signal, is there specific software that i need to record into 48 or will it only pull 44, I am guessing I can pull 48.  Any help would be much appreciated, because I am looking forward to getting started using the JB3 and have yet to completely figure it out.   Thanks for any help!!!

if you are getting an optical input on the jb3 it will record at whatever the sampling rate that the a>d is putting out.

WHat mode do I put it ifor recording, I had it in wav, or do I let the jb3 automatically choose for itself, does this make sense?

You put it on wave & the JB3 records whatever signal it is fed. (44.1 or 48K) What firmware are you using?

Tim, I can hook you up with this if you want.  From the main menu scroll down to preferences.  It's all in there.  Let's set a date/time and we can get this NJB3 ready to roll for you.  Drop me a PM.

Make sure before the wav setting that you set the JB3 to optical in instead of line in.  This may be why you werent getting a 48khz.  Just a hunch.
I know when I patched out of a UA-5 > optical in > JB3, it automatically recorded at 48 after I selected wav.  Basically, optical in, wav, then the JB3 will record the wav file to whatever the unit is being fed.

so after all the questions, i figured out it was the fostex box not getting a strong enough current to it, so i guess i will stick with hosa box, and give mic d the fostex box back, now i gotta go find one of those dvd player batteries, and get the v3 fixed, thanks for everyone's help
