Title: Sony HDR-HC1
Post by: firmdragon on March 03, 2009, 02:24:26 AM
Admittedly, I haven't really been keeping up with the video game.  Thinking of picking this up on the cheap.  Is it a solid cam for the non-pro kinda vids?  Anything better in the sub $1000 range?

It's the first comsumer-level HD cam to hit the market.  It's a solid cam, but there are lots of newer models (Canon HV-30 for example) that are better and much cheaper.  Also, since it came out 4-5 years ago, anything you get is going to have quite a bit of wear and tear on it unless you get lucky and get one that just sat in the box and never got used much.

is the pic quality comparable to the hv20/30s or do the canons blow it out of the water?
