Title: multi-meter and Tekkeon to V3 cable
Post by: darktrain on March 18, 2010, 07:35:16 AM
So what i want to know is if someone who has a tekkeon to v3 cable could put a multimeter to it and tell me which pins on the tekkeon plug pass to the tip or ground of the v3 plug

Or any one with a tekkeon and a mulimeter could check the sockets if the don't run a v3, right?  It would seem that one of the pins would be inactive since all you need is a + & - connection.  4 pin v2 cables only use 2 out of the 4 pins.

Tekkeon batteries use all 3 pins - one of the pins gets jumpered when a connector tip is inserted into the cable end (connector tip insert) - This then turns the battery on.

If this is not done the battery never turns on.

I just did a continuity test on one of the cables I made and the smallest pin should be shorted to the pin closest to it - these are (-) and the third pin farthest from the other two is (+).

BTW below are pics of the Tekkeon right angle cable - pretty low profile!

Thanks for that, that should be all the info needed unless someone has something to add, then the tip of the v3 connector would go to the + pin and the other 2 to the ground

Standard - Tip is positive - Ring is negative for V3

Just got confirmation from Grace that indeed the small pin and pin closest are - and the other pin is +, they even sent me a great little pdf of how they build the cable
