Can anyone help me with a transfer?
« on: December 15, 2003, 03:52:50 PM »
Can anyone out there help me with a transfer?  I have 4 sets recorded at the Kroq Almost acoustic christmas (linkin Park 60 min., Pennywise 30 min., distillers 30 min., and offspring 45 min.) I can send these minidiscs out with a postage paid return envelope and 4 blank cds. These shows sound great on my mini disc, but I can only hook up analog to my soundcard(thus losing quality).  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks  --Bill

Not many people do digital MD transfers.
I'll have a bloody mary, a steak sandwich and...a steak sandwhich.

Not many people do digital MD transfers.

But some do, and they've helped out in the past.  Good luck, Vansmack...hopefully someone will chime in to help out.

Tracking may be a problem as well...
You'd have to find someone with a mini-disc athat knows the music by those groups to track them right.
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.

Microphones: AKG C 480 B comb-ULS/ CK 61/ CK 63, Sennheiser MKE 2 elements,  Audix M1290-o, Micro capsule active cables w/ Naiant PFA's, Naiant MSH-1O, Naiant AKG Active cables, Church CA-11 (cardioid), (1) Nady SCM-1000 (mod)
Pre-amps: Naiant littlebox, Naiant littlekit v2.0, BM2p+ Edirol UA-5, Church STC-9000
Recorders: Sound Devices MixPre-6, iRiver iHP-120 (Rockboxed & RTC mod)

I can track them myself once i get them back on cdr.  Just one large wave file is fine with me.

Im hoping that i can save enough money and get myself a digital transfer system setup for my MiniDisc's.  Im tired of this analog bullshit  =P

That or here's to hoping that the fat man just brings that shit to me on the 25th, but that'll be a fat chance!

If best buy carried a deck, i'd put that mofo on credit and i'd be good to go  =)

If you really want to go digital why not just buy a JB3 and save yourself the hassle of real time transfers and a deck thats hella expensive

I run Sony MXD-D400 > Terratec EWX 2496.  Are you familiar with .shn's and the MKW ACT program?  If you are I will just conver the large .wav's to large .shn's and that way you can just copy to your HD and verify the .md5 so there is no DAE lineage.  You can then decode to .wav and insert trackings.  LMK if you need my help

FYI - if you are looking for a MD deck with optical outs, try the sony MXD-d400.  It's under $300 and you can get one from J&R in New York.
