USB external drive maintenance utility???

I use Gibson's SpinRite to keep my internal drives happy.  It will work but painfully slowly for the WD MyBook USB drives.  Is there a utility out there to fix weak sectors, repair bad ones and so on like SpinRite?  Free is best, but if it works on the MyBook USB stuff it would be worth paying for, too.
