DPA 4061 power requirments
« on: January 15, 2009, 01:36:33 PM »
Was thinking of getting some phantom adaptors to run DPA's off of a pmd660, i belive they need 5v's or more, but what is too much voltage?  What is the output of Samson PM4, or other adaptors.  Wouldn't want to fry the mics.

Thanks

You really cant use these phantom adaptors with your mics.. I would build the dpa circuit to power your mics from phantom power this post is somewhere on this site. The impedance of these mics is very low.

So is there anyway of using the dpa's straight into a 660, or will i need a 9100, batt box, to go inbetween them

Thanks

you can use the dpa microdot>xlr phantom adapters if your mics terminate in microdots

This is the DPA schematic for the phantom power adapter they use for the DPA DAD6001-BC.
It does not change the sound of your mics.

or a 9100 :)

Buy the 9100 and run line-in.  It's technically not going "straight into a 660" but you'll be amazed at the sound and it's only a tad more expensive than a plain ol' battery box.  Worth every single buck you'll spend.

Now you see it:  ADK 51TL,  or MK4/41>KC5>CMC6, or AT4051b/4049a > Wendt X2 > R-09HR
Now you don't:   CA-14c  or DPA4061 > CA ST-9100 > R-09HR
