Can I run from a line level into a mic-in with an attenuator?
« on: November 03, 2011, 05:33:19 PM »
I'm quite intrigued by the new Roland R-26 and am considering a purchase under one condition. Sadly, the only 3.5mm input on the unit is a PiP mic input. I need a line input for my purposes (XLR for mics, line in for sbd feed), and I am wondering if I run my sbd cables through an attenuator (like this one: http://www.core-sound.com/attenuator-cables.html), will that help stabilize the input, so it won't be hot/overloaded? I'm really tired of dealing with clock drift when running a board feed and mics between two different recorders, and want to do it all in one go, but don't really want to spend $1,000 on an R-44 if the R-26 will work with the attenuator.

Thanks in advance for any input!

David

Perhaps a High Z-> Low Z transformer.

You'll need to match the load impedance. Check the specs.
