Help building stand for Schoeps MK4s w/ actives (Manfrotto 3333 + Shapeways)

jbell:
What Darby linked is the way to go!  I would also add this mount and you are good to go.

You can also go with a Duo Lyre from Rycote, which is more robust!  I have both single and Duo, but prefer the Duo.

If you don't want to build, I prefer this mount over the regular Rycote INV 7 since it comes with the Duo Lyre

Darby's recommendation is the way to go, no doubt about it!

I am very surprised this works for you. A Duo-Lyre is MUCH stiffer than a pair of single Lyres of a higher shore rating. There is a not much compliance to effectively isolate something lightweight like a pair of actives on a SRS bar. For that, I would go with a pair of single 72-shore Lyres.

I have to post a stand-hit comparison recording I did with 4011 and 4006 using A bodies, each with INV-7 and INV-7 HG (with the Duo-Lyre). One of those mics probably weighs as much or more than a pair of actives with an SRS bar. The Duo worked fine with the omnis, but for the cardioids all of the hits were strongly conducted to the mics. Switching to the much softer INV-7 with 72-shore singles did the trick.

jbell:
I never had a problem with the duo.  The Nbobs I usually use them with are heavier with caps than my DPA setup.  I would guess your problems are due to the handling noise the Line audio mics have.
