How do I add dynamic processing?
« on: September 17, 2006, 07:18:00 AM »
I taped a show with the recording level a little low...and When I listen to it, it sounds like it needs a little bit more dynamic range.  Could recording at too low a level have anything to do with that?  How would I add more dynamic range in Cool Edit?  Like what settings and numbers would I need to use?  I've never really understood how to use it so any help would be appreciated.

Do you want to increase your levels, or add dynamic range?

Increase levels
Main Menu:  Effects | Amplitude | Amplify/Fade

Dynamic Processing
Main Menu:  Effects | Amplitude | Dynamics Processing

There's no real "set" values for dynamics processing.  Tough to say what values to use as it's specific to each recording.  CEP has an excellent Help file, check it out.
