Topic: Mix recording - few questions. General incite needed.

I'm doing my first SBD recording next month for a local band, and then twice more later on in the month.

Just wondering, if I didn't want a "dry" sound, I should mix the SBD and AUD recording, right? My setup isn't the greatest. I'm on a pretty damn tight budget, so I've got a 30gig iPod w/ the Belkin TuneTalk and a pair of omni-mics from Soundprofessionals (SP-BMC-2).

Now, I'm thinking of buying http://www.giant-squid-audio-lab.com/gs/gs-poweredbattery1.htm <-- those to replace my SP-BMC-2's since I have no bass roll-off on the ones I have now. The kick drum always comes out staticy and overpowers my recordings so I figured it's a good investment. I'm also buying the RCA's so I can get hooked up to the patchbox but my general question is...am I doing this right?

Any and all suggestions welcome. Money not an issue. I'd like to learn if I can't actually posses it anyways.

I use the GSAomni's and an iRiver IHP-120 to do all of my recording.  I record SBD's with just the iRiver and then use something extra to record the AUD.  I then mix in ACID Pro 4.0 to do a matrix.  I assume you plan to do the same?
