DVD data question...
«
on:
March 16, 2005, 03:10:28 PM »
Hey,
Can a CD burner that is also a DVD-ROM (not a DVD burner) read a DVD data disc? I am sending music to a friend and figured I could put a ton more on a DVD, but I'm not sure if he will be able to read the data...

It should, but some DVD-ROM drives are not compatible with some discs (+, -, RAM, whatever brand for whatever reason).

So, it's kind of a crap-shoot depending on the media and the drive compatibility?

Yeah, but unless his drive is really old, I'd say you're fine.

generally the compatibility issues only exist on the write side (i.e. some drives will only write dvd-r but will not write dvd+r). Reading is rarely a problem
