JB3 continuous recording
« on: March 28, 2004, 11:34:10 PM »
I'm interested in unattended recording for long periods, 12 hours or longer.

Does anyone have personal experience with continuous recording for long periods on the JB3?  This style of recording was made possible by firmware version1.40.06, released in December 2003.

I've read that the way it works is for the JB3 to record up to the file size limit (3 hours WAV, 10 hours MP3) , then automatically save the file, open a new file, and continue recording. Rinse and repeat until the disc is full.

I read one report that says there is a 2-3 second gap in the recording while the file is being saved to disc.  Can anyone confirm?

Recording for more than 5 or six hours would require AC power or an external battery, according to the posts I've seen.

Thanks, Flintstone

i have heard that smaples are dropped/lost, but only aboutn .5 seconds!!

personally, if i had the new firmware, which i do, id start a new track whenever convenient!!

that way you lose samples inbetween songs or something, and not at the best part of the show!!!

I agree that starting a new track is the right approach when you're at the controls.  I'm interested in a way to record many hours with the JB3 unattended.

If the loss of data is only 0.5 seconds, then the JB3 will work for my application.  Now I have to figure out how to provide power for 12 hours!  The reports I've seen indicate that you can't count on more than 6 hours total from the two internal batteries.
