Title: PMD 671 external power?
Post by: Since85 on March 10, 2006, 05:37:42 PM
Hi,

Has anyone made/bought an external battery for the Marantz PMD 671 that would plug right into the DC jack? Looking for some type of powersonic (lead acid) or ecocharge type batttery that will run the thing for many hours while using phantom power. Any help appreciated, thanks!

I used  an ecocharge, they sell the cable that works with the Marantz pieces.  I'm sure you could make a home brew with a 12v sla and the plug adaptor for a fraction of the price.  Make sure you have the polarity correct and I'd suggest a fuse for extra precaution.  Hopefully someone with a little know how can chime in with more specifics, the 12v worked great.

I have been using a combination of 12v SLA, external 12v (8 x AA) battery packs I have built and the internal (8  x AA) battery sled with my PMD671.

Some are also using the 9v LiIon rechargeable batteries available at WalMart, Radio Shack or online.

very versitile as it will take anything from 9-15v DC.  you can get everything you need at radio shack for the cables, etc.  it takes a B tip.
