So I have my second c34 but I have never had a actual windscreen for it. Anyone know where you might find one that fits?

2nd? what happened to the first? do you have 2 now?

Well, I kind told them to cancel the order for a USM69 windscreen but I suppose if it fit I could swallow my pride and reorder it. Sure I'll see if it fits

Austin, I sold my first one to Carl in '05 I was using Brian's and finally bought it.

Brian and Carl, Windcutter hasn't come up with anything new... they basically said they would do the same thing so I'll just have to see you in the next day or so... Oh well...

I just pulled both out and tried the fit again.  It's quite loose, more so than I remembered.  The hole size is just a bit smaller than the capsule housing, and just a bit bigger than the body.  It's the shock mount that was allowing me to use it.  I'd push mic fully in and then push the body into the shock mount far enough to snug the foam against the capsule housing.

I'll certainly bring it for you to try, but put me down for a good fitting screen when you find one.

Yep when I checked the screen size based on the upper dimensions on the 69 I could see it is actually bigger than a 426 by 4mm. If they still have them for the 426 you might be better off getting a 426 screen.

Not to ask a stupid question, but I got a stock screen for my 422 right from AKG parts, don't they still make them for the 34??

The c34 hasn't been made since the 70's. I don't even know if they remember what it is  ;D

i decided to keep my order with AValive even after they said it would take 4-6 weeks to receive it. then came the shipping charge......$18 for one windscreen!!?? i told them this would be my first and last time dealing with them. they advertise products they don't have, and then inflate the hell out of the shipping charge-no thanks! b&h also sells this windscreen and charges $4.95 for ups ground with a 7-14 day delivery period. granted the actual price of the windscreen is higher, but at least b&h has great customer service.

if the custom made one ends up working out for you stagger, please let us know so that we can order one too.

Damn... I never got that far... I would have used some unkind words to tell them where they could ship that windscreen!

FWIW, I have a brand new mic cable that I purchased from Richard Land, it is new from AKG. I didn't end up needing it so I want to sell it for the $250 I have into it.

Hey Carl,

Is there any way we can get that cable down to me so I can troubleshoot my 422?? I was going to send it to Land, but if the cable is my problem I'll take it. Maybe a You>Joe>Teddy>Me relay? I'd ask if you were coming down to the Charlie Hunter show in Cambridge, but I know the answer to that already 8)

Thanks,

FWIW, I vaguely recall asking Peter Drefahl about replacing a beat up (but fully functional) connector on my C34 cable (along with some possible mods to the mic, none of which I ever got done), and him indicating he could do it at a reasonable price.  Sorry I don't remember more than that, but it might be worth dropping him a line if anyone needs a C34 or 42x cable fixed.
