looking for a friend
is there a unit out that has speaker amps that will go USBin>unit>speakers?
his home reciever went up and he's got subs and speakers and a ton of stuff on his lappy...
any ideas?

The sony strda2000es through 9000 es line accept a spdif (optical or coax) in and (imho) sound VERY musical. Your friend could add a vx pocket, etc. digital soundcard to the laptop and send one of these a spdif signal. Not aware of any receivers that will accept a digital signal directly from a usb in.

there's a bunch of usb boxes that have line outs, including all those Creative Labs/Soundblaster units. Sounds like he needs something with built-in amps.
