Title: at853->?->jb3
Post by: JaL on October 22, 2004, 07:47:37 AM
Suggestions for what I should use, budget around €200-300 with my at853's from SP (minijack). Has to be stealthable and I wouldn't mind some kind of external adc.
Mission impossible?
Oh, and I'd want it to be an upgrade from the battery box.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Also, anyone know any dealers in Europe?

I'm thinking a used PS-2 and SBM-1 or AD-20 could do the trick

what about a GMIC-20? (stealthabble?)

if you can do without a adc, the Beyerdynamic MV-100 or Sound Devices MP-2 might be feasible

stealthed with at853 > mv-100 or mp-2. love them both!

Not in a pat-down situation.

The MP-2 combo will sound great with the 853's.  You will have to convert em to run phantom, or use a battery box tho.  And in a pat down situation, it would be tough....  Tapes will sound real good tho...

fwiw, i got in at HOB LVS with the following: at853 w/6' of cable, at8533 modules, mv100 and m1.

security wise: hold out the arms, wand the entire body, pat down and wand again. wand beeped on my keys in pocket and my cell phone.

i haven't been wanded with the mp-2, but have been patted down. i had km140>mp-2>m1 and got through. ymmv.

AT853 (SP mini) > battery module (SPSB-6) > Denecke AD20 preamp(mini mod) > optical cable > JB3.  Then crotch it all in a pair of bike shorts and levis 550s.  Then waltz right in ...........

That's just my 2 cents on your request.

Thanks for the suggestions, ps-2->ad-20 looks interesting albeit a bit steep. :) Maybe I should just let the jb3 to the A/D conversion...

check out the yard sale.  I was able to get a used PS-2 and AD-20 for about 300 Euros there, including shipping to switzerland.
