Title: R-300 problems?
Post by: Yahweh on June 28, 2005, 11:25:44 AM
Anyone ever had the 'error' light permanently lit when playing back a DDS tape? Have ran a cleaning tape through it but no change.

Also, during playback you can hear static, which does not show up when the tape is transferred to pc via the dat deck (D100).

Nobody have any feedback on this? It is so annoying...is the deck toast??

I am in the exact same situation.  I can play most of my clones just fine.  My masters (done on D100) dont play back well in the R300.  I've tried cleaning the heads as well on both decks.  Those same masters play without problems on my Tascam.  I'd be interested to know if anyone else has seen the same issues.

Thanks in advance.

I remember having some issues similar to this before I sent my deck to Paul at Pro Digital. You might give him a shout and see what their long distance prognosis is.

Depending on what his estimate is cost wise, you might be better off replacing the unit. In fact, PM me if the cost it too high. I have 3 decks (Sony 75 ES, R300, and 670) I'd be willing to let 2 of them go since I'm no longer using DATs.

Take Care,
