this is the second time this has happened (not sure if it was the same flash card or not).    cards are formated and scanned for errors etc before use.  all my cards test fine as far as speed, bit rate etc goes.  running 24/48 via coax from the v3.  in jan the v3 was sent to grace to fix the coax out and have the polarity etc fixed.

I was running the active 140's with some silver interconnects from nick from the 100 bodies to the v3.   nothing hit the mics, stand, bag etc.  given the nature of the zap/noise it sounds to me like it's coming from the p2 or the card, but that's just a guess.  while it is very easy to fix in post I can't have this recurring.  otherwise I am very content with my rig and do not/can not change anything for a long time (buying a house soon).

long shot but any ideas, thoughts about this would be great.  heres a pic and short mp3 sample is attached.

The only error I ever have had with my V3>p2 is a "media too slow" message. It's only happened once, on a 45X Kingston card. The card has worked flawlessly before and since the one message. I quick power cycle fixed the trouble. This was at 24/48. I'd mark the cards and look for a trend.

I doubt it's the card.  Was this the only zap?

I had issues with popping and cracking when I ran a new beefy toslink cable from my V3 to my JB3. I replaced it and everything was fine. Also, was there carpet in the venue? Maybe you carried a static charge and touched your gear. Is the noise continuous through the recording? or is it isolated to that one time?

yes.  a very nice right angle made by nick. could be it but the other time it was with a different coax cable and it was running from a 744.

try to recreate the problem by running analog out of the v3. i seriously doubt its the card.

happened again last night   >:(   I could understand it being the coax.  but like I said one time it happened it was with a different cable.  the v3 was sent to grace in dec to fix the coax out.  so maybe it's the p2 but it does sound/seem like a cable issue.

interesting.

fwiw, I have *zero issues* w/sending you another spidif cable to test out.
I've never had any issues w/noise in the cable I use for digital.
PM me the length requirement and i"ll shoot out another.

I'll send you a reference cable (hosa, store bought) and a new Hydra.  you can play w/them both to see whats what.

the fact that you've had this issue once before w/another cable is suspicious.
Are they usually in the same place ?  Like shortly after starting a recording ?
