I have them and I think they would be too large for the MBHO connector.  I could be wrong, but Im looking at it right now and the opening is about the size of a sharpie. Works fine for my micros, but would have been too big for my CK1x actives, which have a connector about the same size. If  the connector was gaffed  up it might have worked though.

I had these with my Micros and I wasn't too happy with them.  YMMV.

Why didn't you like these for micro mics?

I've been looking for a decent set of shock mounts to run my AT853 when open taping is allowed.  These look like they will fit.  Both the mic and shock mount are .47" diameter.

I found when I noiselessly bumped my stand, the bump registered about -8db on my M1 meters at a usual gain level. Using a plain old AT8410 (with a diy bar) registered about -24 db.

They weren't very durable - and taking the mics in and out at each show started tearing the rubber.  I also didn't think they did that great of a job of isolation.  What I ended up doing was making a custom mount using a Scheops A20 and the standard Audix clips screwed together on a metal rod.  Worked MUCH better than the Audix shocks.

Nick, trust me, Ive searched and looked at COUNTLESS images of mini-xlr clips, and the Rode NT6 2-Axis Swivel Mounts are BY FAR, the best fit, and well made for mini-xlr connectors/clips ;) Just ask Murph(Javier Cinakowski), he just got a pair of the Rode NT6's, and LOVES the mounts that come with them, as do I, except mine are for my MBHO's ;D I just need a frickin Vark Bar(I'm DEAD BROKE) and my setup will be complete :)

I did have to put some glue-backed/sticky-backed felt on the inside of teh O-Ring of the Rode NT6 mounts, but now they fit the MBHO's Mini-XLR Connectors TIGHTLY and SNUGLY and LIKE A GLOVE ;)

IO did a years worth of research(almost) and of all things, found teh Roide NT6 mounts in a magazine of Full Compass(I *think*) while t5aking a crap :P ;D And that was after MONTHS of research too :P

But since the Rode NT6 mounst are IMPOSSIBLE to buy separately/individually, I found someone who works for a sound company in NYC and burned him a TON of Phish DVD-R's to get me 2 of them ;D 8)

Someone just PM'd me and said they BEGGED Rode to sell them 2 of their NT6 mounts, and they said "No" :( I told my friend at the sound company in NYC to tell his Rode Rep to sell them separately/individually, and he said he was def looking into it for the near(hopefully) future :) So there may be hope after all, and hopefully because of me, because ANYONE running mini-xlr actives should have the option/luxury of running those KICKASS Rode NT6 mounts. They are ALL METAL CONSTRUCTION and DEFINITELY the most WELL MADE mini-xlr clips/mounts on the market IMO, because like I said, I have looked at ALL of them that show up on the internet ;) Trust me on that 8)

what? how is that possible Murph? You mean the O-Ring? the NT6 is essentially the same as the MBHO line(Rode stole their idea ;) ) but the NT6 is:

right? So how do ANY of those actually screw into the swivel mount?

Do you happen to have a pic of this? I experienced the same thing when I used the Audix shocks with the 853's...the rubber became completely useless...I've since just been wedging my windscreens into the mount (minus the rubber)...it works ok but not preferable...

Sure don't - that was years ago and I didn't have those shocks for very long.

You mean that you dont have to use the O-Ring part of the 2-Axis Swivel Mount but instead can screw directly into the top part of the 2-axis swivel mount rather than using the O-Ring part of the mount? Where the O-Ring screws onto the 2-axis swivel mount? That way you can still use the swivel part of the mount, right? I screwed my O-Ring onto my swivel mount SOOOOO TIGHTLY w/ a rubber pipe grip clamp that Craftsman sells, that the O-Rings will NEVER come off on mine. Theyre both 'permanently stuck' in the exact same position on both mounts for easy mounting on the vark bar in the future :) I lucked out and the MAX I could turn both of them, and they ended up parallel to the swivel mount screw for the O-Ring 0*-180* swivel :) The mics run along the same plane as the screw so I can easily adjust them when mounted in the future :)

And like Ive said before, the MBHO mini-xlr connector(4-Pin. Are yours 4-Pin mini-xlr's Murph?) was just a TAD BIT too small in diameter to fit inside teh O-Ring of the mount tight and snug, so I added just a half moon of glue/sticky-back felt so the mini-xlr connectors sit NICE AND TIGHT inside teh O-Ring. Makes me feel ALOT SAFER that the mics are sturdy and can get better isolation from my pair of Shure A53M donut shocks(which I LOVE!) and also wont move around if teh stand gets touched by other patrons at shows(which happens ALOT at festies/PBurgh outdoor shows) sometimes :) All I can do about it is stake down my stand w/ 6 metal stakes that I have, and run my donut shockmount for my KwonBars :) It ruins my show when I have to guard my stand for dear life. Thats why I like being able to stake it down outdoors :)

I have never seen the Rode NT6 mics up close, as Ive only seen them in the same few pics that are online! Can you snap a pic of those threads and a closeup or two of the Rode and how it screws onto the swivel mount, PLEASE Murph? ;D

No, the o-Ring part of the mount has threads on the inside.  It sounds like you covered them up with felt.  The mics have threads that screw into the o-ring part of the mount.  When i first got the mics I though they were permenantly attached to the mount....

I'll take some pictures this weekend...

here are some pictures of the Rode NT6 setup. I connected the two clips with the included 5/8" adapter and placed them in a AT isolation mount. It spreads the mics exactly 17cm, perfect for ortf... (fwiw I prefer these over the Shure donuts.)   AT makes this isolation mount which is made of reallt soft rubber and proveds supprisingly good shock protection.  AT also makes a isolation mount that looks just like the shure donut.  It is reallt expensive though....   Also some pictures of the Shure screens with crown royal 375ml(pint) bags.  I cut a little bit of the back of Shure screens so the mics would fit down inside the open foam better...  The picture of the mic stand shows a 5/8" extention bar so I can run 60cm split omni.    I also have a Sabra T-bar with several lengths of hex rod if I wanted to do configurations other than ortf or 60cm split...

I picked up a couple of these from B&H last winter for use with my MBHO's.  Along with a cheap swivel mount stereo bar - $11 also from B&H, they make for a quick and easy ORTF or with a spacer on one side  X/Y setup.  While the MBHO connecters (ie Switchcraft TA4) are a bit smaller than the Audix mics these are made for they seem to be tight enough if you provide some strain relief on the cables.  I agree that they don't provide the level of shock protection of a full size mount.  There is still noise when the stand is bumped, but for what I've been using them for - a relatively unobtrusive rig on stage - it's better than nothing.

I'm the guy Bean was talking about who couldn't get Rode to sell him a pair of the NT6 mounts.  They look to be the perfect solution and much more flexible than the Audix mounts which don't swivel at all.  If any of the dealers or otherwise well connected on this board persuade them to sell them individually, please count me in.  I really need them because I've got an MBHO fig 8 on the way and need a compact M/S mount.

Sorry for the misinformation ;D 8) :smoking: :spin:

EDIT: And a HUGE +T for the pics in 12 Murph :) Those are frickin SWEET w/ the threads on the capsule>mini-xlr connector. Wonder why MBHO went w/ 4-Pin Mini XLR's, and Rode went w/ 3-Pin Mini XLR's ??? Wonder if there is more SPL or dynamics or just more power to the capsules w/ the 4-Pin Mini XLR's on the MBHO's? Anything that would make the Rode's less efficient w/ a 3-Pin Mini XLR rather than a 4-Pin Mini XLR ???

Ok, that looks great!

Let us know when you've got some samples (with the cardioids).
Also, can you say where you got the rodes and the price?
Know it's crazy, but I'm wondering what the thread on these things is.  Perhaps other (bare) capsules would fit on this rig.

Please DO NOT mail me with tech questions.  I will try to answer in the forums when I get a chance.  Thanks.

THe NT6 was designed from the ground up as a remote capsule microphone.  The NT5 is not able to be made remote...  The MBHO's were a pencil SDC first, then an after thought brought about the remote capsule?  My guess is the extra pin on the MBHO's is due to this.

Ok, that looks great!

Let us know when you've got some samples (with the cardioids).
Also, can you say where you got the rodes and the price?
Know it's crazy, but I'm wondering what the thread on these things is.  Perhaps other (bare) capsules would fit on this rig.

I picked the NT6's up from Guitar Center for $705 for the pair (this incuded tax).  You can find them slightly cheaper from online vendors that don't charge tax.  The reason I went with guitar center is they had sequential serial numbers.

I don't know how to measure the threads, but I too am very inerested if the NT6 could use other capsules...  The outside diameter of the NT6 is 20mm.

Being that Rode does their own machine work I doubt they would be compatable with any other manufactures.  That is an advantage of the Chinese microphones, you can mix and match....  although, Rode was once a Chinese microphone, perhaps they still use similar thread and size....

It would be fantastic if I could find a hyper and fig8 capsule that would fit these....

hmm, looking for mounting options for my ck391 active caps. Where might I find these for sale? Also, you mention these are "closed", so how is the cable going through it, am I missing something?  ???

these would work if you sized them to fit the mini-xlr, rather than as I did, and fit them to a lemo connector.

you then mount them to a stereo bar and single shockmount.
I love them as Lemo connect mounts!

Here is a recording I did with the NT6 on Saturday.  The first set I used the cards, second set I used the Studio Projects C4 card caps (yees they fit perfectly.  Unfortunatly one of the card capsules is bad and is 18-20db lower in output.  For the encore I used the SP-C4 hyper capsules...

Hypers sound real nice!!  Let me know how you make out with the card cap.  I really never had a problem with them. :(  Have you tried them with the stock SP body and not the NT6?  See if that makes a difference.

Yeah, I think the hypers will be perfect for boomy clubs.  Im excited!

I tested all the caps last night on the stock SP body.  They all worked great except that one capsule.  I am not sure what the issue is with it.  I still havn't heard back from SP.  Perhaps I will email PMIaudio about a replacement...

Dragging up an old thread...

Just wondering if anyone got Rode or a Rode Dealer to sell them just the micro mounts?
I'm looking for something to hold onto the diameter of a mini-XLR
