CDWav help
« on: December 16, 2003, 04:10:49 PM »
Transfer:
D7 @ 44.1kHz > Edirol UA-ID > Soundforge 6.0

I have no problem getting the file onto SF 6.0 and burning it to cd, untracked. However, when I try to track it usind CDWav, I hit a problem;
playing the file with CDWav produces no volume therefore I don't know when to insert a break. Is there something I'm missing?

Is there a way I can insert breaks using SF 6.0 other than adding each track to the cd seperately.

Thanks

Check CD-Wave settings/preferences and make sure you're using the right playback device (i.e. soundcard/driver).

I tried using all of the playback devices listed in the settings window and none of them will produce sound

I assume you're able to play back within SoundForge?

Yeah, no probs using SF. I know I could listen to it with SF, jot down the times to split and then use those #'s with CDWav, but I am afraid that could be a waste of time.

If the same playback device selected in Soundforge doesn't work when selected in CD-Wave, I dunno what else to tell you.  Weird.

Do you know if I can track the file using SF?
I'm sure there must be a way to do it, I just don't know what term SF designates as a permanent split, not just an indicator
Thanks for your help Brian

There's probably a way to track it with SF, but I'm not familiar with that tool.  Have you checked the Help file?  The process probably includes making sure you're on 75 fps and specifying track ranges, but I don't know the details in SF.  Maybe someone else will chime in?

ok...if you must track in sound forge, place markers at where you awnt track splits....also place a marker at the beginning and end of the file.  there's a menu item (under which one i can't remember) call convert markers to regions.  then extract regions and it will create the tracks.

you can track in SF, but it doesnt split on sector boundaries. the easiest way would be to simply highlite/copy/paste to new and save each individual as a track

Sometimes only one app at a time can access the soundcard.  Do you have anything else running while using cd wave (like SF, winamp etc.)

KM 184 > V2 > R4
older recording gear: UA-5  / emagic A62 / laptop / JB3 / CSB / AD20 / Sharp MT-90 / Sony MDS-JE510
Playback: Pioneer DV-578 > Lucid DA 9624 >many funny little british boxes > Linn Isobarik PMS

this would NOT apply to the Audiophile 2496...I've had WinAmp, Rebirth and SoundForge all running at the same time flawlessly with my Audiophile 2496

I used to get this with win98 and not with win2k (same soundcard)
