Couple of Neumann Questions...
« on: September 15, 2004, 11:30:20 AM »
Anybody know if you can buy a seperate X/Y bar without purchasing the whole KM140 set? One of the clips fell off, the washer was lost, and I can't find any piece that will come close to fitting as a replacement. I really only need one half of the bar. Can you order direct from Neumann?

Also, anybody know if the km100 bodies will fit in the Schoeps A20s mounts? I've got one A20s to use for the Neumann active bar...but would like to order a second one to use when running full bodies. Since I'm at work and my rig's at home...the DIY method won't work.

+T for anyone who can help....

you should be able to order a replacement part through any dealer, but unfortunately you'll pay a pretty hefty price for it.

I was missing a small piece and I called the neuman support number and asked for parts.  They got me what I needed. They were very cool.

From what I understand the A20, should work. I am assuming you got a Kwon bar ? Are these finally available for purchase from Cascade?

Unfortunately no....still waiting for that Kwon bar to be available. Right now for DIN I'm still using Joe W's ghetto XY/ORTF combo.

Hey guys...final samples of the kwonbars are going out to Joe for final testing.  Once he gives me the go ahead stock will be sent to Frank @ Cascade.

The km-100 is a little bigger than the schoeps mounts...it's REAL tight!  I snapped one of my clips when trying to run a true DIN w/ 2 separate a20-s mounts..hs worked other times...so once it broke went back to the getto din w/ the a20s as the shock for the whole rig (as usual).  If the plastic is cold...I bet it would break every time.  SO hang tight for the kwon bar and use the getto din till then.

Yeah, after I posted that I got home and tried it...never even fit the body all the way in the mount, looked like it would break with any force at all.

Too bad though, as those Schoeps mounts are super small and lightweight. Much better than the 8410s as far as size goes.

Can't wait for the Kwon Bar! Will it just be a DIN mount, or will we get an ORTF bar as well? All the various pieces of the STH-100 mounts are just so small, and the mic clips come loose really easily...which is the root of my dilemma.

nope, that won't work for the neumanns.  the dpas have ridges which keep the caps from sliding around and the neumanns don't.

Schoeps (in a kwon ORTF bar) on top, Neumanns in the DIN kwon bar in the middle, and more Schempz DIN at the bottom...

I think the bottom 2 bars are actually the same length, just appear different because of the way they're mounted and the difference in windscreen size. But yeah, that ORTF bar on top is freakin' huge.

actually, it looks like the bar on top is NOS.  if you are willing to spend the money, you can fit the neumann clips in the A20's, and run any config. you want on a t-bar.

Nice pic....indeed...The ak's will fit into the a20-s but NOT everytime  :o  so I guess once you get them in..leave it in.  I saw the NOS bar at Bonnaroo..thought the guy was running DPA subs though...maybe not the same guy...believe he was from CO.
