are you dead set on a Hi MD?? There are media-less (to say that you only need to buy the media once, or are hard disc based) options to be had for the same amount of $ you want to spend.
HiMD and regular MD media is RW, that is, it can be erased and rewritten.
So, just buy a pack of five HiMD 1G disks and keep using over and over again.
In some ways, this is cheaper than flash memory. But not cheaper than an internal hard drive.
