Can/Will Someone transfer Hi8 >DVD mpeg for me?
« on: August 10, 2006, 10:30:20 PM »
Sorry if I posted in the wrong forum...

Is there someone who can help me? I vid taped a local band Bockman (taper-friendly) and I would like to have it transfered from Hi8 to full uncompressed DVD mpeg.

Could someone hook me up to get this done? No major editing or production needed. Just a transfer.

Lert me know... we can work a trade or whatever.

Thanks!

you realize that "full uncompressed" the file will be 2gb for every 10 mins or so
you would need to supply a HD to put it on for the person to send you back
otherwise you need to compress it down to fit a dvd, even if thats all you do to it as far as editing
Mics - AKG ck61/ck63 (c480b & Naiant actives), SP-BMC-2
XLR Cables - Silver Path w/Darktrain stubbies
Interconnect Cables - Dogstar (XLR), Darktrain (RCA > 1/8) (1/8 > 1/8), and Kind Kables (1/8f > 1/4)
Preamps - Naiant Littlebox & Tinybox
Recorders - PCM-M10 & DR-60D

sorry... i wasn't aware... I figured full uncompressed was DVD9...

its only 65 minutes long so I figured the DVD9 format would fit nicely on a regular 4.5gb DVD. I could be wrong.

Anyway... sorry for the misuse of language. Can anyone help still anyway?

Thanks!

ok if its 65 mins then it will take up approx 13gb to start
you could make it a dual layer dvd or single layer dvd at a high bitrate and have good results from either

i have to see if my friend still has a hi 8/dig8 cam - if so i could convert it for you
or if you have a hi8 > vhs adaptor i could play it thru my vcr/dazzle set up

well... seems I've made a rather large error...

the tape is a VHS C... does that make sense? Sorry.

Either way I DO have a VHS adapter for the tape. If you would transfer that would make you uber cool in my book :D

Let me know what I need to do. and thank you!

P.S. Any format that will fit on a 4.5gb DVD would be great... i jsut figured the DVD9 standard would fit. I think the most important part is the lossless audio.... maybe?

THanks!

audio can be ac3 or pcm depending on the program used and the amount of compression to the video
yes vhsc is a format used to record stuff
lmk dig out the vcr and do a test run with it, it worked the last time i used it though so it should still work now
