Looking for a smaller second set of mics...
« on: January 22, 2007, 10:26:59 PM »
So, the TLs just arn't practical for theater taping... They require too large of a stand and bag for some theaters. So I was thinking about buying a second set of smaller mics for theaters. I was thinking about maybe getting a set of the Superluxes again, but I've also though about going even smaller, possibly stereo mic or mini mics. The catch is that I want to keep it under 200 bucks, as I just won't use them enough to justify anything more. I'd like to get hypers since I will be using them in theaters. I was looking at the Giant Squid mics, but I don't think they make hypers, I also looked at the Sound Professionals, but I don't think they sell a pair of hypers for under $200. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks for any help!

EDIT to add that these don't need to be completely stealthable or anything. I'd like to use my UA-5 if at all possible so I have some pres & A>D...

Franken-Naks? Seen a few around the yard sale lately and they might fit the bill... perhaps a bit more spendy than $200.

haha I hear ya. It was only that I saved some money on finding a cheap W-mod UA-5, and the fact that I've gotten a ton of work in the last few weeks that I'm able to afford this little expense!

Looks like I'm gonna own some AT 853s! Though with the hypers and phantom adapters they are more than I'd like to spend, I think for what I'm getting, they will be worth it!
