Need Info on decent mic stands....
« on: December 18, 2003, 03:54:17 PM »
just got my AT933 mics and am  ready for stealth taping..... just interested in pricing a decent mic stand... I searched around a bit, but found no real list of recomended stands..... I can get a T bar from the company I got my mics from, but they only sell stage type mic stands. Being 6'6" should get me some good recordings in clubs, but I'm interested in the variety of stand that breaks down/ fold up........ Any help would be grand..........
Thanks Tim

call me cheap, but i went with this one instead of bogen.  seems quite durable, came with an adapter, and is air cushioned.

personally, i think a stand is a stand, but if someone would like to inform me why one is better than the other, i'd like to hear, cuz i honestly can't tell the difference.

Because nothing says "I have lots of money and am sort of confused as to how to spend it" like Bose.

a stand is a stand, however the bogen stuff is really the industry standard in photography at least.  all our pool stuff here is all bogen, basically its just tremendously well made and seems to last forever

yeah, i woulda bought it, but at the moment, i'm on a budget, so i went with the cheaper one, when i finally get around to dropping $1500 on mics, i'll upgrade, until then, el cheapo will work just fine with the superlux's

I got this one- it's heavy duty... very sturdy - Ithink it is well worth the money, and I thought it was a great deal.  I think you would have to go to the sellers other auctions...

Needed the adapter too though - $5 at Sound Professionals.

Tickets are dead to me.  Except the ones I have, don't have, and lost.  Not to mention the ones you have, don't have, and lost.   And the ones that other dude has, doesn't have, and lost.  Let me know if you need some tickets, I'm happy to oblige.

I have this stand and people think it's a bogen ;)

B&H has a "Used" section I highly recommend I ordered my stand used and I couldn't tell it had left the box.

In their used section they have a ton of various Bogen thread adapters for $3.00 a piece, a Bogen / Manfrotto 3089 6' stand for $30 (good for stealthing?), a Bosh 10' air cushioned stand for $35, plus tons more (like a $13 stand umbrella adapter)..

Don't work for them ;) but they do send me pretty kickass catalogs the size of phonebooks full of fun stuff for tapers to look at ;D
