Mini-Me as Preamp
« on: July 07, 2005, 09:55:36 PM »
Wondering if anyone has used the Mini-Me as a preamp before using the monitor/headphone output? I have given many analog patches this way for minidiscs and JB3's but never really considered it as a preamp and always take the digital output. I'm asking because I am considering using it as a preamp with my DSD recorder. This way I can get a PCM and DSD recording from the Mini-Me preamp. This output always sounded great with headphones to me.
mics: Soundfield ST450, JW mod Milab VIP-50's, Milab VM-44 Links (Matched Cards, Matched S-Cards), BR mod Nak 700's
pre's: Audio Developments AD 066(11), V2, Littlebox, Tinybox, Reutelhuber
recorders: Sonosax SX-R4, Tascam DR-680, Korg MR-1, Tascam DR-2, Mackie DL32R
playback: Teac UD-501 DAC > Meyer Sound

I would like to but haven't really seen many if any. I'm pretty sure the Mini-MP is a better pre, even better than the Track-2's pre. Hoping it's more like the V3 pre.

im pretty positive the mini-mp is a different pre than whats in the minime.
"Wondering if anyone has used the Mini-Me as a preamp before using the monitor/headphone output?"
what exactly do you mean, can you clarify (sorry, a little slow today  ::) )
are saying that you want to know how well it works as a pre?

Yes, wondering if it would work well as a pre and not just a combo pre/AD. Kinda like the V3 can be used as pre when feeding a SD 722 or in my case a DV-RA1000. Thanks in advance for any insights.
