what's an M1 in iffy shape worth?
« on: September 11, 2004, 08:34:51 PM »
thinking about getting rid of my M1. had it since 1999. it has two issues:

- latch is loose on door. works perfectly, but sometimes it takes a while to load if you don't give the door a little nudge. was repaired by sony in 2001. misloads are extremely rare, i think i've had one in the 3 years since.

- 7-pin jack is loose. w00k tripped over the digi-cable once and it now drops samples. deck works great going analog in but would need repair to run any kind of digital i/o.  prodigital couldn't give me an estimate on the repair without getting the unit.

about 300 hours since it went to sony in 2001. recorded lots of show with it, and have used it for playback since early 2002. run cleaning tapes thru it every 10 hours or so.

this thing has served me well, but now that i stealth very rarely and run JB3 i have little use for it. rather get some caps or a mic upgrade. how much do you guys think it's worth? 2-fitty? 3? less?

Personally, I'd pay no more than $50.

probably your best bet is to call pro digital and get them to give you an estimate to fix it, and  then knock that off the normal asking price...would give you a good guage I think

fitty? damn. i guess it's going to ebay with no reserve.

Prodig couldn't give me an estimate over the phone, he said he'd need to see it. i guess i won't miss it now like i would've before, so maybe i should send it to him.

I think the JB3 has seriously driven the stock down on the Sony DAT machines - working or not -

I'm about to sell my D7 - purchased in early 1993 - refurbed once by ProDig - worked right up to the other day...definitley got my moneys worth on this product!!!

Now - its a horible mess of 10, 40 and 41 errors...all the symptoms of being "worn out" - acording to the stuff in the D7/8 resource page..
