Title: ? for those with 2 JB3 batteries.......
Post by: Tye on January 21, 2005, 12:43:54 PM
Just curious do you charge 1 at a time or just leave both in at the same time?
I am going to tape the Particle/TLG show in Tahoe tonight and it sounds like it is going to be from 9pm - 3am and I want to make sure I will have at least 5hrs time.
I only ask because I have only ever charged both at the same time but never ran over 3 hours. I don't want to get half way through TLG's set and have it die.
Any ideas?

Both at the same time.  Make sure you charge until you see the powerplug icon where the batter meter is.  Nothing worse that having a 75% charged Nomad die after only 2 hours.... a partially charged Nomad is no good.

Thanks +T
So it will fully charge both batteries?
I have searched for the answer and could not find it here.(not to say it is not here)

from my understanding, it will fully charge both batteries as long as you leave it plugged in untill the icon shows fully charged.

Yeah, it should charge both batteries fine.    I've done it both ways.

Even after the battery indicator goes off it is still trickle charging so I still leave them hooked up for a while after if you are worried about squeezing every last ounce of juice out of the batteries.   Think the way lithium ion batteries work is it charges rather fast up to about 90%, then the last 10% takes a while longer to do.

Here is a post I saw when I 'googled' the issue a while ago:

"4 hours should be more than sufficient to fully charge the battery. If the
player is off, the battery icon will go away in about an hour (probably
less), and the charging circuit will go into a trickle charge mode to
charge the up the remaining 10% or so. It shouldn't take more than 4
hours, so allowing 4 hours should be more than adequate. Besides a new
battery will come to you about half full (40% or so)
