Title: Modded my knob
Post by: mattb on January 21, 2004, 01:02:48 AM
Er, knobs. On the AD-20.

First I used Plastic Weld to glue plastic spacers from the hardware store on top of the existing knobs.

Then I just added a couple of hardware store knobs on to those spacers. The spacers made them long enough to use the set screws effectivley.

They have a nice feel and I'm happy with them. Probably won't see field use for a couple of weeks.

Anyone done this?
It was pretty easy, but we'll see how it holds up over time. I considered sinking a little wood screw into the spacer and old knobs, but decided against it.

Thanks. I'm not done yet either. Next will be the miniplug input. I have parts on the way. There's room just to the left of the knobs.
I may also try to incorportate a built-in battery box after that, but I'm not sure if I'll bother. Might be fun. I like doing these little projects.

Apparently, chicks dig it.  I'm all for doing what I can to ensure a lovely lady's supreme pleasure, but that's taking it a bit too far.   :o

But do you dig the chicks who dig it? I think there's plenty of chicks out there who are OK with the normal amount of genital mutilation (circumcision). I think they call them normal chicks.

At least one, yes.  She's too hooked on her dude's Prince Albert to give me the time of day, though.   :-\

nice work. i used to hate those little bastards on my ad-20......I had a sweet coax out on mine though....so that kinda made up for the crappy knobs. +T

I'd do that one too, but I guess I don't really care about coax since I'm using a JB3. Might be a nice thing for patchers, but since I'm not running pimp mics there won't be that many.

The coax mod is just mounting a connector, right? It's regular s/pdif but on a miniplug IIRC. Just curious.

it is a coax out mounted to the box on the opposite side of the gain knobs. Len at Core sound did the mod. it's a regular s/pdif coax.

She's not the one digging the dude's Prince Albert.  Or am I completely clueless about what you're getting at here (wouldn't be the first time!)?   :-\

not bad job.

I've always wanted to fix my M1 knob (dunno if possible).  I've always found it too loose for my liking.

Built in battery box is easy.  Route the hot of the 9volt pug to a resistor.  connect the resistor to the jack.  Repeat for the other channel.

Then between the existing circut and jack put a 2.2 capacitor.  repeat for the ohter channel.

Ohhhhhhhh!!  Well, the PAL was a while ago, she's no longer around.  But if she was...I wouldn't want just her, no, no...I'd want her AND Jen.   8)
