Title: SONY HDR SR8
Post by: Ekib on November 27, 2007, 05:46:39 PM
I am looking for a good camera for recording concerts. I only record with band's permission.

I am thinking about getting this camera :

http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665156113

Does anyone have any experience with this one ?

Also has anyone here use this camera ?

http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=11039901

This one is twice the price and I am wondering if the difference in price is worth the investment.

Has anyone used any of these camera's ?

Also what are the experiences with recording on hard drive ?

I am only talking about the picture quality. I would use my own Core-Sound Cardioid's as an external mic. Do these camera's have -20 DB built in ?

Sounds like you could benefit from reading Part 3 of my concert taping guide on Video Production.  I go over which cameras I recommend you use, and a few look to be in your price range.

I'm looking for the same thing plus some family video.

I like these two camera. The Canon they say is good in low light. Still reading on the Panasonic

Canon HV-20 (rated better than the Sony HDR SR7)
&
Panasonic AG-HSC1U (flash memory but comes with 40 GB portable hard drive)
