Title: "PMA Update Failure" Error in Nero 10
Post by: Cheesecadet on March 21, 2011, 02:48:31 AM
Anyone ever had this happen and know a quick fix for it?

After searching the internet, there seem to be multiple scenarios from bad drive, to Nero, to bad Media, etc.  The same culprits for most issues.

My question is:  Has anyone here had this error and figured out a way to fix it?

I've used the same media on this drive for about a year and a half with no issues ever.  Nero has worked flawlessly to this point as well.

Just curious of any suggestions or remedies before I try doing a complete reinstall of Nero and my DVD drive.

TIA

How many times has this happened? If it's only 1 or 2 you might chalk it up to the bad media before re-installing or buying a new drive.

Also why not try another program Burrrn is a free program. Give that a try to potentially isolate your issue.

Well i was mid-spindle of my DVD+Rs when it happened and I tried 5 DVDs all with the same result even at a 2x burn speed.

I am defragging now and trying a reinstall of Nero to see if that remedies the situation.

I would hate for it to be the burner as it is a External Sony Drive via USB that is only a year old (if that).  :-\

So to make things even more confusing...I was able to burn Audio CDs just fine with no PMA error.

So that makes me think that it might be the DVD media...but since they started failing mid-spindle I am not sure and that would be unusual...correct???

Anyone?

Did you try re-installing Nero? I have Nero 10 as well and have had ZERO problems, so far anyway.......What OS?
