Uggg ... one of my ZS100s fell out of my pocket and hit the cement floor from about 1.5 - 2 feet.  It turned on and looked normal.  But never turned on again.

The stockpiles must be starting to dwindle, because the going rate at the usual places (B&H, Amazon, etc.) is now $597.99.  I last bought one new on Amazon in Dec 2022 for $397.99.  I ordered one in March 2019 for $498, but that included an accessory pack (battery charger, 64GB SD card, etc.).

guitard sorry about your camera.

=====================================================================

Have a question - Have a border now around the movie that I did not have on my old camera.
Went through many screens on the camera to try an figure out what setting I needed to change to get rid of the border when shooting video.

Any ideas on how to get rid of the border while shooting a movie?

Thanks in advance.

Is this an upload of your raw video?  I ask because, I see the text scroll ("TY Cooper performing the song "Holland Sensor") appears at the top of your screenshot.  If you added that in post, that means you had to re-encode your video.  And if that's the case, the way you re-encoded it dictates how it will appear on a platform like Youtube.  Once again, if this is not your raw video; try uploading the raw video clip to Youtube and compare the two.

Thanks for your reply. It is appreciated.

Yes it is the upload of processed video. Will take a look at the raw video and see what it looks like. Have another gig today so not sure I will have time to take a thorough look at it today or not.

Thanks again.

PS: Love the pic of your daughter and her finger in her nose with the dog...Classic!!! Thanks for sharing that!

Also thanks for the heads up on the price and finding the camera might not be as easy in the future. Thinking if I should buy a third one...

My repair bill for when I recently dropped my ZS100.  Not cheap, but half the price of a new camera.  And this camera is still fairly new (less than a year old).  So I bit the bullet.  I am very pleased with the service this repair shop did.  As noted in the invoice, they received the camera on 14 Aug, sent me an estimate on 18 Aug, I approved the estimate on 19 Aug, and they repaired it and mailed it out on 25 Aug.

Question for y'all. I'm tired of swapping batteries after about 90 minutes. What do you use for external power if you can? Thanks!

Question for the Masses. What adjustments would you make so the video's on the screen would display better, while also keeping the band members intact.

I've followed most of the settings discussed within this thread, just looking to tighten up the video display a little bit.

thanks

I've been finding that in post if I reduce the saturation a touch and bring down highlights, up the shadows, that clarity is brought out a bit more. Otherwise, the images are similar to yours when raw, a bit soft on the focus.

Here is my most recent video, can see a similar look.

Check them out! They are touring again later in the year and are wide open to tape.

I run a pair of MK21s and MG M300s with a board source. Setup right in front of the board, which is the very back of this room. I like how it sounds, but I am considering doing a combination of this setup with stage mics in the future.

You will need to do that in post production.

Since your camera is not moving and on a stand it is possible.

Using bezier masking.

Make 2 tracks of the same video, the one on the top track you can make a mask that cuts out the video screen above the musicians.

Basically cutting a hole in the top video now on the track below it will still look the same until you lower the brightness on the 2 nd track below where you will now have the top track at normal brightness with the screen cut out showing through to the bottom track with the new brightness adjustment for the screen.

Render it out.

Good luck
