Hi all,
I have a question about the cmr cable from Schoeps:
I have a power supply Neumann 48v (+- 4v , 5mA ) provided with an input 5pin-xlr.
Is it possible to wired 2X CMR cables to a 5pin xlr ?
Thanks for your help!
regards
Christophe

no b/c the Schoeps CMR's run on 9V. If you wanted to do that you would have to run an inline adapter to stepdown the voltage to 9V.

But if he got the voltage right, there's no reason he couldn't put 2 CMRs on a single five pin XLR, is there? When I had CMRs, they joined to a common 5-pin mini-XLR connector (or was it 6-pin?).

I think the correct answer is:
Yes, you can put 2 CMRs on a 5pin XLR (or at least a 6pin)
NO, you should not connect them to a 48V phantom power source, unless you acquire a Naiant PFA to step down the voltage. I have no idea why you'd want to do this anyway with a Neumann power supply
The optimum small solution for running Schoeps and CMRs is the Naiant tinybox, which you can plug the CMRs straight into through a single 5- or 6-pin XLR. I'd contact music@naiant.com for more info.
You can also run the CMRs through a Naiant PFA, but unless you are gung-ho about using them some high-end preamp, it's not really worth it to do that. In the case of just a 48V power supply, it's definitely not.

ok !
Everything is clear now :)
Thanks again for your reply!
